Sometimes making a decision can leave us with “analysis paralysis”—there are just so many options to consider! This is true when it comes to payment processing, there are many options available, and small and medium businesses in particular need to choose wisely to avoid unnecessary costs or inefficient partners. At Stax, we want to make it easy to compare your options. In this post, we’ll explore the difference between our solution and USPay Gateway.
TL;DR
- Both Stax and USPay Gateway serve similar industries, but there is limited information available from customer reviews or detailed information on the latter.
- USPay Gateway uses a proprietary payment gateway, VIMAS for payment processing and does not accept many modern payment methods.
- USPay Gateway does not list any pricing information on their website and there is very little information on their POS device offerings.
Stax Payment Processing
Stax is a subscription-based, full-service payment processing company, based in Florida and founded in 2014. We’re the only all-in-one platform that offers financial analytics, payment processing, invoicing, and more. Stax is well suited for various industries and scalable for small and medium businesses to large enterprises.
Stax accepts all forms of card and digital payments, including contactless payments, EMV chip and swiped card payments, ACH payments, text-to-pay, online payments, mobile payments with digital wallets, and recurring transactions. We also offer customized billing and invoicing, making our solution well-suited for just about any business.
Stax also prioritizes data security and adheres to the highest level of PCI compliance standards. We offer hundreds of APIs to leading business applications, meaning you can easily integrate with top apps to gain better visibility to your operations.
USPay Gateway
According to the Better Business Bureau, USPay Group was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Melville, New York. USPay Gateway serves retail, healthcare, eCommerce, entertainment and dining industries and accepts major debit card and credit card payment types, including MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover, as well as paper checks. While USPay Gateway mentions they use “state-of-the-art electronic payment processing technology,” the website, uspaygroup.com, only mentions one card swiper device.
USPay Gateway uses VIMAS, their virtual merchant application, which is a proprietary portal that lets business owners “view, manage and securely control vital sales information.” Further, USPay Gateway features V+, which is their online messaging services where merchants can receive automated texts and/or email notifications for daily deposits, retrievals and chargebacks.
While their website claims VIMAS is easy to learn and allows merchants to track credit card payment transactions, there is no detailed information available. USPay’s proprietary payment gateway software is PCI compliant, and they also offer APIs for Quickbooks and Microsoft’s Retail Management System, but there do not appear to be additional integrations offered by USPay.
While they are accredited by the BBB with an A+ rating, there is very little other information on that site and the customer rating of 3 out of 5 stars is based on two customer reviews.
Comparing USPay Group and Stax Payment Processing
When comparing the two payment solutions, there are a few similarities, but also very little tangible information available for USPay Gateway.
Let’s start with the point of sale (POS) device offerings. Stax offers several POS devices and payment terminals to choose from, including Dejavoo and Clover payment terminals, and the fully mobile Swipe Simple card reader for iOS and Android devices.
USPay Gateway does have a virtual terminal for payment processing, and little information available about their iProcess App and card swiper which is compatible with Apple and Android devices. Important to note that this card swiper does not accept chip card payments or contactless payments, only swiped cards.
One of Stax’s key features are reporting dashboard and financial analytics to help you make data-driven decisions. USPay Gateway does not appear to support businesses with financial dashboards or analytics.
Stax supports businesses of all sizes with built-in payment processing capabilities up to $500,000 annually, and custom options for revenue exceeding that. USPay Gateway does not make mention of transaction processing amount capabilities or cost. As far as industries go, USPay Gateway specializes specifically in healthcare, retail, eCommerce, dining and entertainment, meaning if your business falls outside of those industries you may want to look elsewhere.
User Reviews, Ratings and Pricing
Customer reviews speak volumes, and unfortunately there are none on Capterra and USPay Gateway does not have a G2 profile. Stax has a 4.9 out of 5 star rating on G2 with positive reviews indicating our software is quick and easy to use, invoicing and billing is user-friendly, and that our flat rate processing is a helpful for small businesses.
User reviews of Stax on Capterra have a total of 4.0/5.0 stars and mention excellent customer support, comprehensive payment processing solutions, and easy to understand pricing models.
Stax operates on a subscription model and does not mark up interchange fees. Our subscription starts at $99/month for up to $250,000 in annual payment processing, and $199/month for $250,000-$500,000 annual payment processing. For processing in excess of $500,000 annually, you can reach out for a custom quote.
USPay Gateway does not list any pricing information on their website and only mentions that the monthly processing fees are “calculated based on all the account fees assessed throughout the month with each date’s activity.” For more information on their pricing, you would need to request a consultation.
The Verdict: Which Should You Choose?
For us, the better of the payment processing services is clear—but if you’re still curious about USPay Gateway, you’ll need to reach out for more information. Their lack of pricing clarity, limited device offerings, and inability to process payments other than swiped cards, check payments, and virtual terminal payments is not ideal. Stax can serve all of the same industries as USPay Gateway with greater options to process payments more efficiently with transparent pricing and helpful analytics.
If you are searching for more than just a credit card processor and looking for a trusted business partner, our best advice to you is to thoroughly research your options.
